Universities and colleges often utilise multiple event booking systems, one for scheduling teaching bookings and another for scheduling events such as conferences, weddings, meetings, and other external events. Due to the differing requirements of each function, staff usually have a preference to continue utilising the different systems.

For effective university space utilisation it is unlikely that rooms can be 'ring-fenced' to a particular function, resulting in the requirement for some activities to be booked in both systems. However, this arrangement causes inefficiencies in the management of the bookings process, and can result in rooms being double-booked.

Mosaic Software have built an application called CABS CEI that addresses this problem for institutions running the CABS Chamberlain events management software and the Scientia Enterprise timetabling software, by providing automatic transfer of events between these systems. The software is implemented as a standard Windows Service, with appropriate controls and alerts available to customise the transfer process.

CABS CEI communicates directly with Scientia Enterprise COM Windows Service images to determine events to transfer to CABS Chamberlain, and to enter/update events transferred from CABS Chamberlain.
